Member FAQ
What if I will be out of town on a pick up day?
You can do one of two things. If you let us know no later than the Sunday before the delivery day we will hold your box, and you can request a double box for a later date in the season. Send us an email to schedule the double box week of your choosing. You can also have a neighbor or friend pick up your box for you, no need to contact us about that switch.
What if I miss a pick up day without scheduling a vacation hold beforehand?
If you miss a pick up day, your box will be forfeited and the pick up host will donate or share your box. Most of our pick up sites are at members homes, and out of respect for their time and space we don’t want members showing up randomly to pick up a box. If you are going to be only a few minutes late, please text the pick up site host to let them know, and they can hold your box.
Do you have a smaller share size?
Yes! This year we are offering a half share size and a full share size, each delivered weekly on Wednesdays. We know some of you out there share with a neighbor and it’s hard to split boxes each week. Others of you are single people and try as you might, it is hard to eat a whole full share box each week! We want to make the half share a smaller version of the full share in every way we can, same variety, but smaller amounts. Sometimes, the full share will have a few less types of vegetables.
Can I drop last week’s box off at the pick up site anytime throughout the week?
If you forget to bring your box to the site at the designated time, please wait until the next week’s pick up time to bring your boxes back. Out of respect for our pick up site hosts, we don’t want people showing up at all hours of the day or night to drop off boxes.
Are your vegetables organic?
In practice, yes. But, we are not yet certified organic by the USDA. This process is both costly and time consuming. We intend to certify eventually, but it is not our number one priority. We use organic seed, only organic approved amendments and follow organic methods. We do not use synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, we do not use GMO’s. We take great care to nourish the soil each year. We use compost, cover cropping and till as minimally as possible.
What if I need to cancel my share?
We know that things happen, people move, and circumstances change. If you have to cancel your share we will refund you the prorated amount.
I’m not sure if CSA is for me.
CSA is definitely not for everyone. A big part of CSA is being connected to a local farm and supporting it’s farmers and investing in fresh food, grown naturally nearby. It means having a different relationship with your kitchen and interacting with food thoughtfully each day. It may be challenging at times to try new or different vegetables than you’d regularly by at the store. If you do not have much of a passion for a variety of vegetables or don’t eat many vegetables you may be better off supporting your local coop or farmer’s market.
